Database Administrator

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for FrontBridge's MySQL databases on an IBM/Red Hat platform. This includes installation, updates/patches, tuning, backups, data retention/archiving/purging, capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • Maintain relationship with MySQL, FrontBridge Engineering, CTO as it relates to existing DB and applications.
  • Participate in DB architecture consultation with outside vendor, participate in future recommendations and the plan to implement same. This may include the migration from MySQL to a yet to be determined commercial DBMS or data warehousing solution.
  • Review the applicability of DB infrastructure for existing data structures that currently do not use a relational DB
  • Key team member in the tactical and long term DB directions at FrontBridge
  • Participate in on-call operational matters as it relates to DB and importing processes.
  • Work with systems administrators to tune platforms based on DB requirements, DBMS and/or O/S developments.
  • Support the Front Bridge Engineering group to modify the schemas to meet new functional requirements.
  • Develop scripts to support DB utilities where necessary to streamline DB maintenance.

Job Qualifications

  • 5-10 years experience in support of high volume DBs and data warehouses
  • MySQL experience, particularly in a high volume DB environment
  • Additional experience in DB2 and/or Oracle is preferred
  • DBA experience working in a Red Hat 2.3 or higher operating environment, GEN2 experience a plus
  • Produce documentation to support existing and future DB
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment. Position reports to VP of Operations, but will support Engineering organizations as well
  • Needs to work with all levels of organization including VPs of Operations, Engineering and CTO

Information Systems Technician
We are currently seeking an Information Systems Technician to assist the IS department in the day to day support requirements of our 125+ internal and remote employees. We are seeking an individual with experience in supporting small-medium sized companies with both technical and non technical audiences. Responsibilities

Sales Engineer

Requirements - Sales
Candidates should have excellent written/verbal communication, listening, and presentation skills. Perform in-depth and high-level technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects. The Sales Engineer must have a strong, in-depth understanding of all FrontBridge competitors. Provide assistance to sales when completing RFI's and RFP's. Provide product training to new hires and during the launch of new products. Work closely with product management and client services to ensure sales reps have all necessary sales tools such as product specs sheets, product compatibility matrix, technical FAQ's, demo scripts and slides for WebEx presentations etc. In addition, the Sales Engineer will be responsible for building an online Knowledge-Base for technical information. The Sales Engineer will provide support to 25-30 sales reps. The successful candidate must have exceptional organizational and time-management skills and the ability to assume a leadership role for the team.

Requirements - Technical
This position requires a strong background in networking and network protocols, information security, and most importantly, high volume high availability SMTP mail delivery systems.

Candidates should have experience with multi-platform environments and have a thorough understanding of SMTP, DNS, UNIX and Windows based systems. Also needed is knowledge of MS NT Domain and Exchange, Notes, WAN, Firewalls, Routers, POP3, IMAP, Secure Encrypted Email, and Archiving especially for email). LDAP and PKI experience a plus!

Spam Analyst
(Winnipeg, Canada)
FrontBridge has two Spam Analyst openings in our Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada office. As a member of the FrontBridge Spam Analysis Team, you will work in a strong collaborative environment to create and update rules in the FrontBridge spam filtering system based on your analysis of both customer-submitted spam and examples captured in our honeypots. You will also analyze the spam rules database for efficiency, tuning rules for performance and combining or eliminating redundant rules. Although this is not specifically an application development position, you will have ample opportunity to exercise your programming skills; the spam team creates and maintains its own tools and scripts for analyzing and processing mail logs and spam.

Other qualifications we look for in members of the spam team are:

  • Understanding of RFC 2821 and RFC 2822
  • Understanding of RFC 2045-2049 is a plus
  • Understanding of statistical analysis is a plus
  • Understanding of DNS and SMTP
  • Experience with Perl. Proficiency with regexes is a major plus
